Roses & Lace is a studio album by American country artist Janie Fricke. It was released in 2008 via JMF Records and contained ten tracks of material. It was Fricke's first album of new material in several years and the twenty third album in her career.

Background, content and release[]

According to writer Mark Deming, Janie Fricke was among country music's "most popular female singers of the '80s".[1] During this period, she placed 17 singles in the top ten of the Billboard country chart. Eight of these songs reached number one.[2] In the 1990s, Fricke left her long time record label and began recording albums for small record companies. In 2000, she launched her own recording label titled JMF Records and released her first album on the company in 2000 called Bouncin' Back. Among her future JMF releases was Roses and Lace.[1] The album was recorded in Fricke's home studio, located outside of Dallas, Texas. She recorded the project with her touring band that regularly plays concerts with her. The album was produced entirely by Fricke herself.[3][4]

Roses & Lace consisted of ten tracks. Among its tracks was a cover of Glen Campbell's "Try a Little Kindness" and Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?". New material was also included on the project such as "Some People Fall, Some People Fly" and "Why We Love".[3] The project was released in 2008[1] on JMF Records and was issued as a compact disc. It was Fricke's third studio project issued on her own label and the twenty third album released in her career.[3] It was Fricke's first album of new material since her first JMF album Bouncin' Back.[1] It was made available for purchase on her official website.[5] After the album's release, Fricke noted that its tracks received a positive reception from her audiences: "It's great to have a new album out this year. The audience has been very pleased and receptive of the new songs and what we have added to our stage show."[6]
