Rowan John Tink AM[1] (born 1955) is a former Special Air Service Regiment officer whose identity was widely publicised after he was awarded the United States Bronze Star[2] for his role commanding 150 SASR operators in Afghanistan, notably during Operation Anaconda. The medal was presented to Lieutenant Colonel Tink by Major General Frank Hagenbeck at a farewell ceremony at Bagram on 24 July 2002.

After leaving the ADF, Rowan Tink joined Tenix[3] who were subsequently merged with BAE Systems.[4]

Lt-Col Tink's outstanding leadership, strategic and tactical proficiency, dedication to duty and commitment to mission accomplishment in a combat zone under the most extreme of circumstances greatly contributed to the success of Operation Enduring Freedom. Lt-Col Tink's performance of duty reflects great credit upon him, the Australian Defence Force and the Coalition members of Coalition Task Force – Mountain.
