Rudd is a surname of Norse (Danish) origin. An ancient Danish saga tells of a Rudd who died in the Yorkshire Wolds and had his burial stone shipped over and it is found in a church courtyard in a little hamlet in East Yorkshire named after his burial stone and that hamlet is called Rudston.
