During a conversation hosted by GRAMMY U on June 17, 2021 with Little Bacon Bear, Rico spoke on the mixtape, revealing that frequent collaborator Dylan Brady of 100 Gecs would serve as the project's co-producer.[5] Rico also disclosed that the mixtape spans seven tracks and includes features from Flo Milli and G Herbo.[6]
Release and promotion[]
On May 29, 2021, Rico took to social media to reveal information about project, including a teaser cover.[7] Designed by Karli Fetz, the art depicts fluorescent, multi-colored pills spilling out of two prescription pill bottles laying in the palm of a hand with long and sharp chrome fingernails.[8][9] During the GRAMMY U conversation on June 17, Rico clarified that this is not the mixtape's official cover art.[5]
On April 13, 2021, Rico released a snippet of the mixtape's first single, "Magic", on her TikTok with the caption "Doesnt this song make u smile...summer vibessss".[10] On June 4, 2021, Rico further hinted at "Magic" on her Twitter by posting a photo of herself alongside the text "Bts from the Magic video shoot You ready?".[11] On June 21, 2021, Rico revealed the cover art for "Magic" on Instagram and Twitter as well as the release date of June 30, 2021.[12][13][14] The cover art features a partially-nude Rico sitting atop a slab of granite in a sandy terrain with plants and rocks nearby. Behind Rico, the title of the track, "Magic", is written in a fantasy-style typography following a gradient from dark red to light red.[15] "Magic" is produced by Avedon.[16]
