Senator Sam Mézec (Samuel Yves Mézec, born 26 December 1990, in Jersey) is a Reform Jersey politician. He was the deputy for St. Helier District No. 2 from 2014 to 2018 and currently holds a Senatorial seat in the States of Jersey. He is the Party Leader of Reform Jersey.

Political career[]

He was the deputy for St. Helier's No. 2 District after winning that seat in a by-election on 5 March 2014. He held the seat in the general election held later that year on 15 October.

He co-founded and, until June 2019,[1] was the chairman of the Reform Jersey political party, which is one of several active political parties in Jersey.[2][3] He stood in the senatorial by-election held on 7 September 2016 but came second to Sarah Ferguson.

He successfully gained a senatorial seat in the 2018 general election.

On the 3rd of July 2018, Mézec was appointed first Minister of Children and Housing.[4]

After nearly only two and half years in the role, on the 8th of November 2020 Mézec resigned from his role as the Minister of Children and Housing in support of a vote of no confidence against the Chief Minister.[5]
