Samsuri Arshad

Tan Sri Samsuri bin Arshad (born 5 May 1942) was a former Malaysian police officer who served as Deputy Inspector-General of Police.

Early life[]

Samsuri Arshad was born on 5 May 1942 in Mersing, Johor.

Police career[]

Samsuri joined the Police Force on 1 November 1962 as Probationary Inspector. In 29 November 1963, he was promoted to Inspector. In 1 February 1966, he was transferred to the 6th Platoon of Police Field Force, Cheras. Later, he promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 22 June 1969 and he became Chief of Tapah Police Station. In 27 December 1971, he became a Trainer at Kuala Kubu Baru Police College.

In addition, he had held position as Commandant of Kuala Kubu Baru Police College, Head of Perak Criminal Investigation Department, Deputy Director of Royal Malaysia Police Training, Deputy Director of Criminal Investigation Department, Selangor Police Chief, Perak Police Chief, Sabah Police Commissioner and Director of Management Department and was succeeded by Mohd Jamil Johari.[1]Later, Samsuri appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police on 16 January 1994.[2]

In 3 September 1994, he hold a press conference about a arrestment of Al Arqam sect's leader.[3] Later, he was retired on 5 May 1997.[4] Before his retirement, he visted the Prime Minister at that time, Dato' Seri (later awarded title Tun) Mahathir Mohamad.[5]

Post career[]

He currently is a Member of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan Pengaman (Malaysia).[6]In addition, he also a Chairman of Orbit Asia Risk Consultancy.[7]
