Sarea is a genus of small, non-lichenized, inoperculate^[1] discomycete fungi in the family .^[2]^[3] Sarea species are found growing on the resin of conifers in the Cupressaceae and Pinaceae in the northern hemisphere.^[1] The genus contains two easily distinguishable species: apothecia of are black, while those of are orange in color.^[1]
