Sasmit Patra is an Indian politician and a member of the Biju Janata Dal. Since 28 June 2019, he is the member of the Parliament of India representing Odisha in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house[1] and appointed as chief whip of the party.[2] He is currently Spokesperson of Biju Janata Dal . He is an Indian Christian.[3][4] His father was Swarupananda Patra, the former president of the Odisha Minority Forum (OMF).[5]

Education and career[]

Patra did MBA, PhD from Allahabad University in Organisational Behaviour & HRM. He teaches courses on organisational behaviour and human resource management. He has experience of working in academics and industry. Academic turned politician Patra is an Associate Professor in Organisational Behaviour at Xavier University Bhubaneswar
