Satu Mare Airport (IATA: SUJ, ICAO: LRSM) is an international airport located in northwest Romania, 14 km (8.7 mi) south[1] of Satu Mare municipality, the capital of Satu Mare County.
History[]
Satu Mare Airport is one of the first airports in Romania, officially opened on 15 October 1936.[8][9] The first plane that arrived at Satu Mare Airport was a Junkers 34 airplane, that operated the Cluj – Satu Mare – Oradea – Cluj route.[citation needed] The current runway was inaugurated in 1975.[citation needed] In 1996, the facility was designated as an international airport.
