- This is a species that is known for being small-sized and a reddish color. This fish is characterized by having 17, very rarely 16, pectoral fin rays, 33-37 vertical series of scales, 4 predorsal scales, and has a head that seems almost scaleless, but is actually covered with numerous small papillae[3]
