Seetha or Seeta is a 1960 Indian Malayalam language film, directed and produced by Kunchacko, based on the 1943 movie Ram Rajya by Vijay Bhatt, itself based on Uttara Ramayana. The film stars Prem Nazir, Kushalakumari, Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair and Hari. The musical score is by V. Dakshinamoorthy.[4] Seetha "was a hit".[5] Earning ₹4,000,000 net (valued at about ₹397,800,000 in 2009), it was the highest grossing Malayalam film at the time of its release, before its record was broken by Ninamaninja Kalpadukal in 1963.[6]

The music was composed by V. Dakshinamoorthy,[3] with R. K. Shekhar acting as his assistant to make musical arrangements. Seeta was the first film on which Dakshinamoorthy and Shekhar collaborated, and Shekhar would continue working as Dakshinamoorthy's assistant for the next fourteen years.[5] Lyrics were written by Abhayadev. The song "Pattupadi Urakkam Njan", sung by P. Susheela, became a hit.[citation needed] This was Susheela's first Malayalam song.
