Seithur is a small town panchayat town in Rajapalayam taluk, Virudhunagar district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located on the Rajapalayam to Tenkasi National Highway 744. There are many attractions near Seithur. It is located 65 km away from Courtallam, and 5 km from the Sasthakovil river.

As reported on in the 2001 India census, Seithur had a population of 18,012.[1] The total population consisted of 49% males and 51% females. Seithur had an average literacy rate 82%, greater than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy being 88%, and female literacy being 77%. In Seithur, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. There are many nurseries, primary, and a government secondary school, a government hospital, two police stations: an inner and outer police station, SUB-REGISTRAR office that is the head for the nearest 18 villages and a Sivan temple called Thirukkanneeswarar located in the village. Agriculture is the major profession of the village, as it produces paddy, cotton, coconut, sugarcane, etc. During the 2014-2015 drought, the level of the underground water-table became very low. Mainly, agriculture is our demand of native pride[clarification needed]. Seria trade name is old culture[clarification needed].

Other professions include tailoring, and work in mills. Srinivasaperumal with Sridevi, Poodevi, and Aanjanear temple is also located in outer stop[clarification needed].

Seithur Zamin[]

Seithur was ruled by Seithur Sevugapandiya thevar. seithur zamin having control limit of 50 sq. kilometers radius. having own palace of about 50 acres. It's having control to rule whole Virudhunagar district once Zamindhar had donated lands to Hospital schools and temples around 150 1acers and many jewels,still it was maintained by Heridariy trustee. He also donated Seithur Sevugapandiya Govt hr sec school in Rajapalayam for both boys and girls about 8 acers, He was president for South Indian Zamindhar association. He knows 11 language read and write,they are very passionate about art and music, and he was the first Zamindhar to own a car in south[citation needed].
