Severe is the fourth album by Melbourne, Australia experimental band MY DISCO, released on Temporary Residence Limited on October 30, 2015. It was shortlisted for the 2015 Australian Music Prize.[1]

Background[]

Following the release of the trio's previous album, Little Joy, and the subsequent tour, guitarist Ben Andrews moved to Jakarta. Bassist and vocalist Liam Andrews was living in London and Barcelona, and drummer Rohan Rebeiro was living in Melbourne.[2] The songs on Severe were written during a two-month period, from April to June of 2014.[3] According to Liam Andrews, the distance between all three members made the recording process more "exciting". Unlike the band's two previous albums, Paradise and Little Joy, which were produced by Steve Albini, Severe was produced by Cornel Wilczek.[2]
