Shabnam Ferdousi (original name: Mirza Shabnam Ferdousi) is a Bangladeshi filmmaker and film-activist.[1] She is working in film and electronic media for the last 27 years. She made about 40 documentary films; and many feature  and infotainment show for TV channels.  She worked as an executive producer more than 100 documentary films for private TV channels.[2]

She started her career as a model in TV commercials back in 1995. She was also  a renowned news caster and presenter.  In 1996 she joined as a member of Zahir Raihan Film Society and introduced with international films and film genre.  She became the member of Bangladesh Short Film Forum and organized a national film fest as the festival director in 2000. Later, she participated in the first documentary film-making course in Bangladesh, organized by Steps Towards Development in the same year. And started her career as a documentary filmmaker 22 years back.

She has been awarded Bangladesh Government Grant for her debut fiction film “Ajob Karkhana” (Song of the Soul) in 2017.[1] The film is scheduled to be released in 2022 and taking part in international film festivals.[3]

Her perspective in films is – to explore on an intimate level. She loves to see things and explain them in minute details, and also from a broader viewpoint. In her films, she explored themes ranging from human rights to fine arts, from politics to poetic reality methodically.  She has a view point to see things about marginality and minority. As she worked in various people from grass root to upper class of the society, that gives her a inner look.  She believed that, artist has no limits in their thoughts. She belongs to her own philosophy about human race and life.

Ajob Karkhana (Song of the Soul) 2022--- A full length fiction film on a journey of a rock super star, who will changed after meeting with folk artists of Bangladesh. Produced by Versa Media Ltd. and Bangladesh Govt.[4]
