Shaikha Ali Salem Al Maskari (born 1939) is an Emirati businesswoman.
Education[]
Al Maskari earned a bachelor's degree from the University of London, and a PhD in geology from Indiana University.[1]
Career[]
Al Maskari started her career with ADNOC, and later joined her family's petroleum company, Tricon Energy, which was restructured into Al Maskari Holding.[citation needed]
Social responsibility[]
In November 2015, Al Maskari was a speaker[2] at the 5th Global Child Forum[3] hosted at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
Awards and recognition[]
Al Maskari was honored with 2019 UAE Federal Personality[4]
In honor of Emirati Women's Day 2016, the UAE Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority published “Emaratiyah” a collection of profiles of the UAE Inspiring Women.[5] Shaikha was included for her roles as a leading businesswoman and a philanthropist; the same year she was awarded the Emirati Honorary Shield for her pioneering Humanitarian contributions to the development of the State.[citation needed]
For her support, she was conferred The Year of Zayed Honorary Badge by the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs.[citation needed]
Al Maskari was recognized by Elmaser-Elgedid[6] as the third Most Influential Woman in the Arab World in 2016, behind HE Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi and Princess Haya bint Al Hussain; the list includes regional women leaders from the public and private sectors.[citation needed]
Al Maskari has been conferred by the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce & Industry: “Award For Excellence In Leadership And Contribution to the Economic Empowerment of Emirati Women ”; by SME Advisor the "2017 Lifetime Achievement Award 2017"; by Enterprise Asia the “2016 Asia-Pacific Woman Entrepreneur of the Year”; by the Australian Trade Minister in 2015: for “Making outstanding contribution to enhancing Australia- UAE Relations”; by the HH Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Cultural Center for “ Promoting and Contribution to Indo-Arab Relations”; by in enhancing bilateral relations; and recipient of several awards from the UAE Red Crescent and Qatar Red Crescent for on-going contributions to international emergency relief.[citation needed]
In 2018, she was included in that year's Forbes list of the 100 most influential women in the Middle East, at #70.[7]
Philanthropy[]
Al Maskari is a philanthropist through her private foundation, and in coordination with Emirates Red Crescent, she is internationally recognized for her & Arts Foundation (ADMAF).[8] (Arabic: شيخة المسكري)[9]
Personal life[]
Al Maskari was married to the late Donald Henry Hase, a geology professor at the University of Iowa, and they had three children together.[1]
