Shariff Enamul Kabir is a Bangladeshi academic who served as the Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University from 24 February 2009 until May 2012.[1]
Early life[]
Kabir was born in 1955 in Gopalganj. He has completed his BSC (Honors) and MSC (Masters) in Chemistry from Jahangiragar University in the year 1975 and 1976 respectively. He stood second in Bachelor and first in Masters from the same discipline. In 1986 he achieved the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship to study at University College London where he did his PHD. In the year 1979, he joined Jahangirnagar University as a lecturer and now he is working as a professor. He has been enriching the university with his outstanding endeavor for the last four decades and established himself as an unparalleled talented teacher. As an internationally renowned researcher he has published more than three hundred articles in different journals.[2][3] He is an elected fellow at the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences since 1999.[4]

Kabir completed his master's from the Department of Chemistry at Jahangirnagar University in 1979.[4] He obtained his Ph.D. in Cluster Chemistry from University College London.[4]

Accomplishments[]
Kabir has adorned the position of Treasure, Vice-Chancellor and the member of Public Service Commission.[10] As a VC,[11] he has made revolutionary changes in Jahangirnagar University by his hard work and devotion. 10 new departments and 2 institutes have been established during his tenure as a Vice-Chancellor. He also got the approval of five academic dormitories and started their construction.[12] He has also established the Wazed Mia Science Research Institute which is considered to be one of the best research hubs in Bangladesh.
