Shyam Lal College was founded by Shyam Lal Gupta in 1964 with the financial assistance of the Chairman Shyam lal Charitable Trust.

History[]

The foundation stone of college was laid by Zakir Hussain, the then the Vice President of India and Chancellor of the University of Delhi, on 24 May 1964.[citation needed] The evening College began operating on 8 September 1969.[citation needed] The college is one of full-fledged constituent colleges of University of Delhi, offering courses in science, commerce and humanities to more than 1800 students.[citation needed]

The college is housed in its own building at G.T. Road,[clarification needed] Shahadra, near Welcome metro station.
