Siempre Viva Norte, also known as Northern Siempre Viva is a barangay in the municipality of Mallig, in the province of Isabela. Its name was derived from the Spanish language which means "Always Alive in the North" [1][2][3][4] The barangay is divided into seven districts or zones known as purok. Puroks are frequently used as units for service delivery and administration within barangays, and each purok has its own President and officials. Based on the current 2015 Census, the population was 1,972. This represented 6.47 percent of the total population of Mallig. [5][2][6]

History[]

Following the Second World War's liberation, individuals from various areas such as Pangasinan, Ilocos, Nueva Ecija, and Indonesia, among others, came to this area and settled in territories that lack land titles due to a lack of inhabitants and the absence of a barangay. Mallig's municipal government simply ignored it.

Pedro Ignacio, Alejo Orzame, Elias Seguancia, Alejandro Balmores, and Gonzalo Mabuti were the forefathers of this area; Eduardo Siababa, Cornelio Corpuz, Geminiano Soria, Alipo Castro, Gregorio Barbo, Eugenio Solanzo, Leoncio Pico, Cerilo Ladiero, Alipio Senica, Alejandro Gabat

It took several years for the elders to convene in this area and successfully establish it as a Barrio or Barangay. They initially proposed Gemeniano Soria for the position of Teniente del Baryo, or Barangay Captain. They dubbed this barangay "Siempre Viva" after winning the "Salip" at the town of Mallig in Rigodon, a dance event, and numerous other contests. Its name was derived from the Spanish language which means "Always Alive".

Numerous children struggle to learn since there is no school and no physical school. After being approved, Mayor Eduardo Siababa met with the elders to gather materials for the "Eskuelahan" or School. They also completed school after a few years, but it was damaged by a powerful storm. It was in such horrible condition that the children were unable to study there.

In 1948, a small group of researchers and surveyors arrived with the intention of establishing Siempre Viva as a town or city, but the project was abandoned due to the settlement's remote location from the National Highway.

Between 1950 and 1953, many residents were terrified to dwell in Siempre Viva due to the Kalingas' cruelty. When night falls, everyone in Siempre Viva sleeps beneath their houses. Mayor Eduardo R. Siababa decided to approach the Kalingas' "Panglakayen" (Leader) in order to establish an organization dedicated to promoting peace and cooperation between Ilocanos and Kalingas. The organization, dubbed "Boddong," was well-established.

After several decades, locals concluded that it would be best to partition the 60 hectares of land into two distinct barangays in order to get more government projects and subsidies. In 1984, the two barrios were split, with Siempre Viva Sur located in the south and Siempre Viva Norte positioned in the north.
