Miss World 1978[]

At age 19, she beat 67 other contestants and was crowned Miss World 1978 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. "And then all the possibilities: I would live in London and would travel around the world", she said to Debe Leer.

Life after Miss World[]

To Debe Leer, in 2019 she said that after her reign, she traveled and worked as a model during a decade, visiting countries as Japan and Thailand. "I loved the adventure, but I felt lonely, because there were not all the technologies as today to speak with the family and friends".

In 1988 she married the businessman Julio Ramos and had two children, Julia and Augusto. The couple divorced years later and Silvana said to Debe Leer that he was very chauvinistic. "He wanted to control me and his patology[clarification needed] got worse year after year".
