Sivaangi Krishnakumar (born 25 May 2000) also known as Shivangi is an Indian playback singer, actress, and reality show participant. In 2019, she participated in the singing competition Super Singer 7 which was aired on Star Vijay and in 2020 she appeared as comali in comedy cooking show, Cooku With Comali for which she won many hearts.
She made her debut as a singer in the Tamil film Pasanga in 2009 with the song "Anbaale Azhagaagum".[2]
Early life[]
Sivaangi was born in Thodupuzha, Kerala to a Tamil father and a Malayali mother on 25 May 2000. Her father, Krishnakumar is a businessman and a musicologist, and her mother, Binni Krishnakumar is a playback singer. Both her parents are recipients of Kalaimamani Award. She also has a younger brother, Vinayaak Sunder. After Sivaangi was born, her parents moved to Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She did her schooling in Chinmaya Vidyalaya Matric Higher Secondary School, Chennai. She later completed her bachelor's degree in Commerce at M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women, Chennai.[citation needed] During her college days, she ventured into the music industry.[3]
Career[]
After a 10-year-long hiatus, in 2019 Sivaangi made her appearance as a contestant in an Indian Tamil-language reality television singing competition Super Singer 7 which aired on Star Vijay and made it into the Top 6.
She later participated in a comedy cooking show, Cooku With Comali.[4][5] She won three awards for her participation in this show: The Entertaining Star Female by Blacksheep Digital Awards, Most Popular Female in Reality Television by Behindwoods Gold Icons and Trending Pair of the Year award along with Ashwin Kumar Lakshmikanthan for Vijay Television Awards for Cooku with Comali.
In 2021, Sivaangi sang "Asku Maaro" alongside Dharan Kumar in Tamil, in which she also made a Cameo Appearance.[6] Soon after, it was also made into Telugu language.[6] Later in May 2021, she sang "Talku Lessu Worku Moreu" in the movie Murungakkai Chips alongside Sam Vishal.[6]
After her appearance on Cooku With Comali, Sivakarthikeyan cast her in his upcoming Tamil film, Don.[7] She also sang the song 'Adipoli' alongside Vineeth Sreenivasan which was released in 2021 as an Onam special.[8]
