Songs That Saved My Life is a compilation album by American record label Hopeless Records, in partnership with Sub City Records, released on November 9, 2018. The album contains various studio covers from post-hardcore, pop punk, and alternative rock bands in honor of suicide prevention.[1]
The compilation album's lead single, a cover of "Torn" by Welsh rock band Neck Deep, was released on World Suicide Prevention Day, September 10, 2018.[2]
Background[]
Songs That Saved My Life was first unveiled by Hopeless Records and Sub City on Monday, September 10, 2018.[2] In support of the announcement, the label released the compilation album's lead single, a cover of "Torn" by Welsh rock band Neck Deep, accompanied with its music video.[3]
Promotion[]
On September 10, 2018, Welsh rock band Neck Deep released their studio cover of Natalie Imbruglia's version of "Torn" by Ednaswap, along with its music video.[4]

Songs That Saved My Life Volume 2[]
Due to the success of the first "Songs That Saved My Life" Hopeless/Sub City announced that the compilation would become an annual event to raise more money for Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention. The labels announced a second volume was in the works and later announced the second volume in the series. The album was released on November 8 2019 approximately 1 year after the first volume. Like it's predecessor the album follows the same formula with bands covering songs that helped them thru struggles and to help those who also struggle find a voice and speak out. A portion of the proceeds went to many charities that focus around suicide and mental health. The album also released a single following the announcement with State Champs covering "Real World" originally by American rock band Matchbox Twenty.

Additional songs[]
Additional songs were released long after the release of Songs That Saved My Life Volume 2. There have been two songs released as standalone singles from the album. The first being a cover of "Lucky" originally performed by Pop idol Britney Spears but covered the rock band Weathers and the second being a cover of "Parents" originally performed by Alternative rapper Yungblud covered by singer/YouTube personality Noah Finn Adams known by his stagename NOAHFINNCE and features Sydney Dolezal and Meghan Herring of the rock band Doll Skin who were previously featured on Songs That Saved My Life Volume 2 covering Florence and the Machine's song Shake It Out. The song Parents was released during Pride Month 2021 and parts of the proceeds from purchasing the song at online music outlets were donated to LGBTQ+ organizations and mental health organizations. The song also had a music video accompany the release of the song as well.
