Sophie Hughes is a literary translator who works chiefly from Spanish to English. She is known for her translations of contemporary writers such as Laia Jufresa, Rodrigo Hasbún, Alia Trabucco Zerán[1] and Fernanda Melchor.

Her translation of Alia Trabucco Zerán's The Remainder was shortlisted for the 2019 Man Booker International Prize.[2] In 2020 she was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize with Hurricane Season by Fernanda Melchor.[3]

In 2020 she co-edited with Sarah Cleave Europa28: Writing by Women on the Future of Europe, published by Comma Press in collaboration with Hay Festival and Womarts.
