Soumya Sadanandan is a National Award Winning Filmmaker and actor in the Malayalam Film Industry.[1][2][3] She was well known as an anchor of a film based show in Kappa TV, called 'Film Lounge' which was broadcast for 4 years from 2013–2017. She was a member of the Selection Committee of IFFK 2017[4] and IDSFFK 2021. She was also a Jury Member of FEFKA Short Film Festival 2019 and Venu Nagavally Short Film Festival 2020. Her directorial debut - a Malayalam Feature Film under the banner of UGM Entertainments starring Kunchacko Boban and Nimisha Sajayan had hit theaters on the 20th of September 2018. The movie was warmly received, especially by family audience. Mangalyam Thanthunanena is available on Zee 5.
She is well known as a mentor for upcoming filmmakers and conducts classes, talks[5] and workshops on film-making.[6] At present she is working on the post production of an Anthology Series: Kali – a Divine Comedy.
Early life[]
Born at , Alappuzha District in Kerala, Soumya was brought up at Thiruvananthapuram. She completed her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya Pattom and secured a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from College Of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram , Kerala. She worked with Aditya Birla Minacs, Bengaluru for four years before making a big career switch to join the Film Industry in 2010.
