Souren Melikian
Assadullah Souren Melikian-Chirvani, also known as Souren Melikian[1][2] (born 1936),[3] is an Iranian[4] art historian, art critic,[5][6] and curator.[7] He is a renowned scholar of Iranian culture,[8] and its sphere of influence.[9]
Biography[]
Melikian graduated from the Sorbonne and the Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (INALCO).[3] He has served as (since 2005) as Chair of Middle Eastern History at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).[10] He was named emeritus research director in 2007.[3] He wrote weekly columns on art history and art markets for the International Herald Tribune[11][12] since 1969.[3] Between 2011 and 2013 he wrote for The New York Times.[1] He has served as Senior Collections Adviser for the Aga Khan Museum.[13][14]
