Sport management is the field of business dealing with sports and recreation. Sports management involves any combination of skills that correspond with planning, organizing, directing, controlling, budgeting, leading, or evaluating of any organization or business within the sports field. Sport management strictly teaches individual`s to properly lead any organization within the sports industry. The ratio of sports management jobs to applicants, competition will be super intense and top tier for employment within the sports industry. Sports management programs often develop valuable hard and soft skills that students will have to equip for their future careers. Sports management as a profession involves the overview of all aspects of an athletic program's competition within the sports industry. Some examples of sport managers include the front office system in professional sports, college sports managers, recreational sport managers, sports marketing, event management, facility management, sports economics, sports finance, and sports information. These sport management structures help managers organize sport and the basic foundation of sports right now. Sports management structures generally evolve in response to social changes and also addresses specific issues through any segment of the sorts industry.

Sports management has existed in some form as long as sports themselves, but the formal academic discipline has only been recognized as a unique area of research and study in recent history. England is the birthplace of modern sport and sports management. However James Mason was the first funder of sports management. He developed the first sport management programs in the United States at Ohio University in the year 1966. About 20 Years alter different universities starting to brand of James Mason creation and knowledge and then the North American Society for Sport Management was formed during the 1985-1986 academic year. Next after that, The Journal of Sport Management was first published in 1987 to address sport management in the context of management theory and practice. The goal of this journal was to go more in depth on the sectors that are used in population today which focused specifically on sport, exercise, dance, and play. However today sports management has evolved enormously due to technology and more knowledge obtain. Shifts in the sports industry are impacting athletes, team owners, fans, and society today. A key factor is the fact that technology advances in training and coaching, which introduces new methods of performance enhancement.

Bachelor's and master's degrees in sport management are offered by many colleges and universities.[1][2][3][4] A Master of Business Administration shows a commitment to excellence and your ongoing pursuit of knowledge and mastery of the field. A Master of Science in Sports Management prepares for a career in all levels of management, including recreational, juvenile, interscholastic, amateur, collegiate and professional. A Master of Science in Sports Medicine very much focuses on health care issues for athletes, including prevention, assessment, management and rehabilitation of injuries. A number of classes outside sport management may be relevant to the field, including; classes in management, marketing, business administration, economics, and accounting. Work experiences or internships that relates to managing any type of sport organization. Having a sports management degree can position students to become elite agents, team marketing directors, athletic department supervisors, coaches, fitness center supervisors, team managers and allow them to take over the sports industry.
