St. Anthony of Padua High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Effingham, Illinois. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield in Illinois. St. Anthony was established in 1874 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. It is the only Catholic high school in a 50-mile radius.[1]

Academics[]

St. Anthony offers a comprehensive curriculum where students are encouraged to discover and develop their individual talents and potential.

The journey you will make over the next four years is characterized by mental, physical and emotional changes. SAHS students’ academic and athletic achievement is truly remarkable, and we want you to be part of this success. St. Anthony delivers a curriculum program that ensures success and gets you a head start on your college career.

Each year, over 98% of the senior class continues their education at colleges and universities locally and across the nation. Courses for college level credit are available through our strong Advanced Placement program and dual credit with Lake Land College. St. Anthony High School offers the most AP classes in a five county area. Our AP coursework includes Calculus, Statistics, Chemistry, Biology, & English. Dual enrollment classes through Lake Land College include Composition, College Algebra, and Finite Math.

Diverse curriculum such as the Effingham Community CEO program, Health Occupations, and Dave Ramsey's Foundations in Personal Finance allow you to customize your course schedule to fit your interests and goals. In addition, SAHS offers modified classes for those who may need academic assistance in certain areas.

SAHS is accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCACASI). SAHS is a member.[2]

Athletics[]

St. Anthony of Padua competes in the National Trail Conference (NTC) and is also a member of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). The teams compete as the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs. The Bulldogs were awarded the Program of the Year by the Decatur Herald & Review after the 2016–17 school year.[3]

The school sponsors interscholastic athletic teams for young men and women in bass fishing, bowling, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, and track & field. Young men may also compete in baseball, while young women may also compete in cheerleading, softball, and volleyball.
