'St. Mary's Home Matriculation School, Kotagiri was opened in 1921 by the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. It gives the children a good foundation in education, the children get not only efficient education but also character formation with refined and good manners. Committed to the mission of Christ and true to the ideals and vision of Mary of the Passion, our Foundress, we the sisters of Franciscan Missionaries of Mary consider as a powerful agent of social transformation.St. Mary's Home Matriculation School' is situated in the heart of the town at the hills of Kotagiri of Nilgiris. It is serving its educational service for past 80 years. It is well known for the quality of students it produces both in aspects of education and discipline. Started to be a primary school, it has expanded to a high school in the academic year of 2003–04. Over the span of years, it has been working efficiently. The school is run by the F. M. M. (Franciscan Missionaries of Mary) sisters.^[1] Being a convent, it is a well-known school all around Kotagiri.
