Stanislaus Regional Transit, marketed as StaRT, is the primary provider of mass transportation in the suburban areas of Stanislaus County, California. It serves more outlying regions of the county, while the Modesto Area Express (MAX) runs public transit within the city of Modesto. Six fixed routes are provided, while the agency also offers flexible route dial-a-ride service.
Acting on the recommendations of a county-wide Transit Efficiency and Innovations Study, which was performed in late 2019, MAX and StaRT will merge into a single joint powers agency named the (StanRTA), as announced in 2021.[1]
