"State of Mind" is the title track and only single to be taken from Australian actress Holly Valance's second album, State of Mind (2003). Released on 20 October 2003 in Australia, it peaked at number 14 on the Australian Singles Chart during its third week and spent 13 weeks in the top 50. The song became her third top-10 single in the United Kingdom, peaking at number eight and spending a total of 10 weeks in the top 100. The single was also released as DVD single in the UK.

Music video[]

The video was directed by Jake Nava.[citation needed] At first the music video shows Holly driving her car, a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado, on her way to a club. It continues to show the street as it goes on. At one point when driving, Holly stops at the red light and turns to the side. She sees two girls, and once the light turns green she gives them a finger and storms off. The girls look horrified. Soon after it shows Holly entering a grunge club and towards the end of the chorus it shows Holly performing the song on a stage. It then sets on her dancing on the floor, she then begins to crawl on the floor. The chorus then once again begins and Holly starts performing the song on stage. Once the chorus is finished Holly walks off backstage and gets ready. She runs out and goes into her car again. It's morning again and Holly drives to the outside of a building where the drug-fuelled after party is happening, perhaps even a swingers party. She walks into the building, and begins to pose on a bed with her heels on, video camera recording while she starts to film solo porn, and looks at her reflection in the mirrors on the ceiling. Throughout the video it shows what the people in the background are doing.
