About the statue[]
The height of the statue is about 30 feet. Parashurama is the sixth avatar of Vishnu in Hinduism. He is one of the chiranjeevis (immortal) of Hinduism and is believed to have lived during the Treta Yuga and Dvapara Yuga. He is also known as the father of Kalarippayattu.
As per the Hindu mythology, Kerala was created by Parasurama, by throwing his axe from Gokarna, near Karwar, Karnataka. The sea on the direction of the axe moved out and a strip of land was formed. It was 160 katam (an old measure) of land lying between Gokarnam and Kanyakumari.
