Stephen George Barchet (April 4, 1901 – November 30, 1964) was an American football player and a rear admiral in the United States Navy. Barchet attended the United States Naval Academy where he played college football as a halfback for the Navy Midshipmen football team. He was selected by Walter Camp as a third-team All-American in both 1921 and 1922 and won the Thompson Trophy in 1922.[1][2] After graduating from the Naval Academy, Barchet served in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of rear admiral.[3] He commanded USS Argonaut, which was near Midway Island, when the attack on Pearl Harbor occurred.[3] He was buried at the United States Naval Academy Cemetery in Annapolis, Maryland with his wife Louise Elizabeth Lankford.[4]
