Early career[]

Tappin began his career with the chemical giant ICI, on a fast track management scheme. ICI's fortunes turned around under the leadership of Sir John Harvey-Jones. After he left, Tappin was mentored by Sir John Harvey-Jones.[1]

In 2000, Tappin created a global growth and corporate venturing consulting firm, Edengene. During this time, Edengene helped British Telecom set up BT Broadband. Under Tappin's leadership, Edengene was awarded "Best Small Business" and "Gold Medal Award for Client Work" from the Management Consultancies Association.

During his mid-20's, Tappin realized his highest calling was to help CEOs transform their companies as a way to change the world. During the next three decades, he dedicated his life to meeting, being the confidant of, and training the top global CEOs.

In his late 20s and early 30s he worked as a consultant and managing partner in KPMG, PA Consulting and Heidrick and Struggles. It was here he noticed these global professional services firms faced similar challenges to the major corporations they advised. This motivated Tappin to create Xinfu - a professional services firm.[citation needed]
