Suryakant Dhasmana (born 5 February 1964 at Dehradun) is an Indian politician. His school education was held at St. Joseph Academy, Dehradun. He graduated from DBS College, Dehradun with post graduation from DAV (PG) College, Dehradun.

Dhasmana was a Candidate of Indian National Congress from Dehradun Cantonment Constituency in the 2017 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly election. he was the chairman of vinod bharatwal committee which led the master plan of making of state uttrakhand . and that recommendations played important role in formation of uttrakhand.

Political career[]

He has been active in politics since his college days, and was elected Chief Prefect in DBS College, Dehradun. He won DAV (PG) President's election in 1988–89, and was elected as the President of HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar.

Under the able leadership of late Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, veteran congress leader and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Dhasmana worked for Youth for Democracy and Yuwa Lok Dal. Rising from various positions of Indian National Congress, he was nominated as Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Committee, in 2011. He is the candidate of Indian National Congress for the 2013 Mayor elections of Dehradun Municipal Corporation.

His association with social and educational organization includes President, Pahal; President, Ayurveda Sewa Sadan; President, AN Public School; and President, Dev Bhoomi Manav Vikas Trust.

He is associated with various trade unions and social organisations.

Personal life[]

His wife, Dr. Priyanka Dhasmana (Dushal), did her Ph.D. in fisheries (Ecological Health of Golden Mahasheer in the Ganga river in Uttarakhand), and is former lecturer of MKP (PG) College. She is director of Dev Bhoomi Institute of Hotel Management and Fashion Technology, EC Road, Dehradun which is managed by Dev Bhoomi Manav Sansadhan Vikas Trust.

Dhasmana Family has resided in Dehradun since 1948, and specifically Mr. Surya Kant Dhasmana, who is the third generation of the family, has carved niche in politics with an aim to overall development of the society.
