The Biblical Hebrew form (טַלְיָה) means 'ewe lamb' and is the feminine form of taleh (טָלֶה 'lamb').[1] In Aramaic, Ṭalyāʾ (‎טַלְיָא or טַלְיָה) means 'youth' or 'boy' (the feminine being Talita), or in some dialects, 'childhood' or 'girlhood'.[1][2][3] In Modern Hebrew, the name is interpreted as 'dew of God' (טל יה tal Yah).[1][4][5]

Talia is also a spelling of the Greek name Thalia, especially as used in Italian.
