Founding[]
Talkdesk was founded in Lisbon, Portugal in 2011 by Cristina Fonseca and Tiago Paiva.[2]
Growth[]
By 2019 the company had grown to almost 1,000 employees, and was headquartered in San Francisco, California.[3] By early 2021 Talkdesk had grown to over 1,500 employees. It has funded its growth substantially by multiple investment rounds, and since it is privately held does not release revenue figures. It claimed 1,800 customers by 2020, including IBM, Acxiom, Hunter Douglas, and Trivago.[4]
Investment[]
In November 2011, Talkdesk graduated from the 3rd batch of the 500 Startups accelerator program. [5]
- Seed — In August 2014, Talkdesk raised US$3.15 million in an investment round led by Storm Ventures.[6]
- Series A — In 2015 Talkdesk raised US$21 million from Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Salesforce Ventures and .[7][8]
- Series B — In 2018 Talkdesk raised $100 million in series B funding, valuing the company at over US$1 billion.[9]
- Series C — In July 2020, Talkdesk raised US$143 million in series C funding, valuing the company at US$3 billion.[10]
Products and markets[]
While Talkdesk sells to a broad range of industries, it has targeted the financial services & insurance, retail & e-commerce, healthcare & lifesciences, travel & hospitality and public sector industries with its contact center as a service (CCaaS) solution. It has integrations to Salesforce, Zendesk, Slack, Microsoft Teams, ServiceNow, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and numerous other systems.. In November 2020 it announced it would be using BICS to provide cloud numbers and SIP Trunking to support its customers.[11]
