Tamman is a village and Union Council of Talagang Tehsil in Chakwal District of Punjab Province, Famous personalities of tamman are Air Marshal Noor Khan, Sardar Mumtaz Khan Tamman, Sardar Hayat khan tamman, Professor Noor Ul Hassan khan tamman. Noor ul Hassan khan was great Islamic scholar(Sheikh ul Tafseer) and a Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies in Oriental College Lahore (Punjab University). He is the son of Imam Ghazali (Great Islamic scholar). Allama Noor ul Hassan Khan is also famous because he is the first person to translate the world famous book Kitab al-Aghani in Urdu language. The book was published by Punjab University press years after Allama's death. The Urdu version of the book is named as ‘Taus aur Rabab’. The book was well received and welcomed by intellectuals and literary community in Pakistan. Tamman has played a vital role is politics of pakitsan, prominent politicians include sardar mumtaz khan tamman and sardar Faiz Tamman.Formal Air chief, Air Marshal Noor khan also belongs to tamman.Many people of this village has joined pakistan Army and are currently serving.[1]
