It currently holds a score of 82 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 4 reviews, which indicates "universal acclaim".[1] YouTube music critic Anthony Fantano released a glowing review of the record, lauding its fusion of genres, "personality" and "catchy hooks," ultimately giving it a rating of 8 out of 10. According to The Line of Best Fit, this review brought Young Fathers to the attention of the label Anticon, to which the group eventually signed.[4] At AllMusic, Fred Thomas described the release as "equal parts electronic futurism and throwbacks to '90s R&B or trip-hop."}[2]
