The Actors of China Awards are awards for acting presented by the China Television Artists Association.[1] The awards recognize work in television, and web series in China. The eligibility period for awards is from July 1 of the past year through July 31 of the current year.

History[]

The Actors of China Award was originally named "Chinese Film Actor Image List", it was renamed to "China Television Good Actors" in 2014.[2] In 2016 a new category, the Lifetime Achievement Award was added.[3] The category names of the awards changed from Ruby, Emerald and Sapphire into the Red, Green and Online categories respectively.[clarification needed]

Eligibility[]

The eligibility period for nominations is the calendar year from July 1 of the past year through July 31 of the current year. The qualification for web series is that it must have been available on a legal streaming site. All candidate actors are expected to be of good standing, have acted well, have outstanding performance skills, a high degree of professionalism, and positive social influence.[citation needed]

The difference between this award and the other awards is that it is divided into four main sections, the Red Group, the Blue Group, the Green Group and the Online Drama Group. 'Blue and Green' respectively represent old, the candidates in the red group are 55 years old and above, and the candidates in the blue group are 36 to 54 years old, and the green group candidates are 18 to 35 years old.[4][5] The top six actors with the highest votes are honored as "Outstanding Actor" and chosen by a jury as the winner for each category.

The actors who have won the honorary title of "Good Chinese TV Actor" are eligible for participation again only after an interval of two sessions. Actors from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan could participate in the selection in all categories. If shortlisted actors are found to have violated regulations, laws, and social ethics, they will be disqualified for participation and awards once verified.

Nominations and voting[]

The nominations list is based on recommendations by experts consisting of directors, producers, screenwriters, performing artists, and actor committee members. They confirm the list of candidates, publicize them online, and open the voting to the public. The top six of the audience choice are selected by the jury as the final winners. The evaluation process is supervised and counted by notaries, and the results are finalized after approval by the China Television Artists Association. The online voting by audiences and final evaluation by the jury is to select winners in the four categories of red team, blue team, green team, and online drama.[6] While the role award and the lifetime achievement actor award is selected by the jury.
