The Korean Studies Institute (한국국학진흥원, 韓國國學進興院) was founded in 1995 as a non-profit foundation, under the affiliation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism,[1] with the aim of contributing to the creative succession of traditional culture and Korean studies by conducting comprehensive and systematic research, conservation, collection and studies on archives owned by individuals which were on the brink of disappearing due to damage or theft.[2]
