The Ayala Show

The Ayala Show was a live music television show broadcast every Friday at 10pm on Irish TV.[1] The show is hosted by singer-songwriter Ayala, who each week introduces three artists of a variety of genres and styles. The first episode was broadcast on Friday, 9 October 2015.

Programme Format[]

Each episode features two or three artists, all of whom perform several songs from their repertoire, live in studio. The broadcast episode features a selection of these performances alongside interviews with the artists, while the performances which are not broadcast are uploaded to The Ayala Show's YouTube channel. Ayala features in each episode as the program’s host and also performs alongside many of the guest artists.

Travel Specials[]

Three episodes per series are travel specials, in which Ayala ventures out of the studio to meet artists both in the UK and internationally. These features focus on exploring the local music and culture of the visited region. Series 1 of The Ayala Show visits Cancale, France to meet gypsy jazz guitarist Dominique Carré, Mexico to meet Horacio Palencia and Noel Schajris, and finally to Los Angeles.[2]

Filming & Recording[]

The show is filmed and recorded in Studio 1 of Battersea Park Studios (formerly known as Sphere Studios[3]). The studio is notable for being the space in which Adele recorded her album, 21.[4] Much of the filming of interviews takes place inside Studio 1’s control room, in which music for the show is also recorded and mixed.
