The Big Idea/Te Ariā Nui is a supporting the visual and performance arts in New Zealand.

The Big Idea has over 50,000 members within the New Zealand arts community, and describes itself as "the largest, and the leading online resource for the arts in New Zealand".[1]

The Big Idea grew out the Arts Work Project, a partnership established by Creative New Zealand in 1999. It was officially launched by Helen Clark (then Prime Minister of New Zealand) in December 2001. A charitable trust was formed to manage the site in 2003.[1] The web hub was overhauled and relaunched in 2009.

The Big Idea is largely sponsored by , Auckland Council, Creative New Zealand, and the . The organisation's CEO since 2016 has been Annie Ackerman.[1]
