The Black Halos are a Vancouver, British Columbia-based punk rock band. Their music also includes some glam rock.
History[]
The band was founded in 1993 by lead singer Billy Hopeless and guitarist Rich Jones, and at first, was called The Black Market Babies. They released their first album, Black Halos (Die Young Stay Pretty) in 1999.[1]
The band went through a number of lineup changes,[2] toured around Canada, and released an album, The Violent Years, on Sub Pop Records in 2001.[3][4] They later signed with History Music. They performed at Canada Music Week in 2007.[5]
The Black Halos' fourth album, We Are Not Alone, came out in 2008.[6] The band had a setback later that year after having their equipment stolen while on tour.[7] They decided to disband,[8]
The band reformed in 2016, with Hopeless and Jones as well as some new members.
In 2020 they released a new single on Yeah Right! Records and are playing live with original members Billy Hopeless, Jay Millette and Rich Jones in addition to new members Danni Action and John Kearns.[9][10] A new album is in the works with this line-up.
