Plot[]

The story begins when the frontiersman Deerslayer (Lex Barker) and his Mohican blood brother Chingachgook (Carlos Rivas) are attacked by a scout for a Huron war party. Despatching the Huron, they hear war whoops coming from the river and come across a white trader, Harry March (Forrest Tucker) in a canoe being chased by the war party, also in canoes. They help Harry drive off the war party. This is something that puzzles Deerslayer and Chingachgook, who can’t understand why the Hurons have gone on the warpath so far west of the white settlements. But they have done and Harry tells them he is making for a floating fort moored in the middle of Lake Otsego, on which live old Tom Hutter (Jay C. Flippen) and his two daughters, Judith (Cathy O’Donnell) and Hetty (Rita Moreno) and Harry needs the help of Deerslayer and Chingachgook to get the girls to safety in Albany. On arrival at the fort and offering their help because there is a band of Hurons coming down river, The Deerslayer and Chingachgook are shunned by old Tom, who not only knows the reason why the Hurons are about to attack, but is also anxious to hide from them a sinister secret…a secret that, if left unresolved, could destroy them all…!
