The Devil's Light is an upcoming American supernatural horror film directed by Daniel Stamm and written by Robert Zappia. It stars Jacqueline Byers, Virginia Madsen, and Ben Cross. The film is scheduled to be released on October 28, 2022.

Synopsis[]

The film's plot has been described as:[1]

Sister Ann, a restless 25-year-old, devoutly believes that performing exorcisms is her calling. But, she is at odds with the institution’s traditions: sisters are not allowed to perform exorcisms, only priests. With the support of a mentor, a professor who senses her special gift, she is allowed to observe actual training sessions. Her desire to prove herself takes a personal turn when she meets one of the school’s most disturbed patients. During their harrowing encounters, Sister Ann comes face to face with a demonic force that infests the school and has mysterious ties to her own past. It is then that the power of evil and her own startling abilities are fully realized.

Production[]

Plans to film The Devil's Light were announced in 2019.[2] James Hawes was initially slated to serve as director; this role later fell to Daniel Stamm, marking his return to the exorcism sub-genre after the 2010 film The Last Exorcism.[3][1] Scott Niemeyer, David Brooks and Brad Kessell were named as executive producers for the movie, which would adapt a script written by Robert Zappia.[4] Jacqueline Byers was announced as the lead actress for The Devil's Light and that she would star alongside Virginia Madsen, Ben Cross, Colin Salmon, Christian Navarro, and Nicholas Ralph.[5] Filming took place in spring of 2020 in Sofia, Bulgaria.[6][7]

Release[]

The Devil's Light is scheduled to be released in theatres on October 28, 2022.[8] It was previously scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on January 8, 2021, then moved to February 11, 2022, by Lionsgate.[9][10]
