The Last Mercenary is a 2021 French action comedy film directed by David Charhon with a screenplay by Charhon and Ismael Sy Savane. The film stars Jean-Claude Van Damme in the lead role, along with a supporting cast that includes Alban Ivanov, Assa Sylla and Samir Decazza. It was released on Netflix on July 30, 2021.[3]

Plot[]

A mysterious former secret service agent must urgently return to France when his estranged son is falsely accused of arms and drug trafficking by the government, following a blunder by an overzealous bureaucrat and a mafia operation.

The film was ranked number one worldwide for seven days in a row. Including in the top 10 in North America. It is now in the top 10 all time Netflix movies outside the US. Counting more than 52 million hours of viewing worldwide.

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 50% of 16 reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5.30/10. [5] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 48 out of 100 based on 8 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".[6]
