The MobileStore Limited, was an Indian telecom and mobile phone retailer, formerly known as "Essar Telecom Retail, Ltd.",[1] The MobileStore currently has over 1000 shops in 150 cities, with its headquarters located in Mumbai. The company is part of the Essar Group.

History[]

The MobileStore was launched on 22 March 2006 in Nagpur, incorporated under The Companies Act, 1956. It has its registered office at Essar House, Mahalaxmi, Nagpur.

Products[]

The MobileStore sells mobile phones of domestic and international brands like Apple, BlackBerry, HTC, Karbonn Mobiles, Micromax, Motorola, Spice, Samsung, Sony, VIVO, OPPO and Vodafone. It also provides online mobile and DTH credit recharge through its website.

Marketing[]

The MobileStore had a First-mover advantage being the first entrant into the organized mobile retail industry in India.

Tie Ups[]

In March 2007, The Essar Group, the promoters of The MobileStore, entered into a co-branding Agreement with Richard Branson's Virgin Group.[2] According to the terms of the agreement The MobileStore was allowed to display the "Virgin" brand while the Virgin Group provided technical and consultancy services for a fee.

In February 2009, The MobileStore entered into a strategic tie-up with Kingston Technology.[3] Kingston mobile memory products are sold in The MobileStore stores.

In April 2009, TCT Mobile, a player in global telephony announced its tie up with The MobileStore as the national distributor for Alcatel Mobile Phones in India.

Citi Bank credit card customers can redeem points at The MobileStore outlets against mobiles, tablets and accessories.

E-Commerce[]

The MobileStore launched its E-commerce website in April 2008. All the products and services provided by The MobileStore in their stores were made available on the website.
