The Persistence of Chaos

The Persistence of Chaos is a laptop that contains the six of the most dangerous computer viruses. The laptop was created by the collective MSCHF and artist Guo O Dong.[1]

Description and reception[]

The technical basis was a Samsung NC10 netbook from 2008. This computer is equipped with Windows XP and was deliberately infected with the biggest viruses, worms, and malware, which have caused US$95 billion in financial damages; the ILOVEYOU virus, Mydoom worm, Sobig worm, WannaCry ransomware, DarkTequila malware, and BlackEnergy malware.[1]

The laptop was marketed through the artist's own website and was auctioned off as a work of art for US$1,345,000.[2]
