The Silent Warrior

Louis Long (born March 20, 1976) is an American professional wrestler who competed in Japanese and international promotions, independent circuit under the ring name, The Silent Warrior (サイレント·ウォリアー).^[1]

Early life[]

Long was born in Buffalo, New York and has been deaf since birth. He is one of eight siblings. As an athlete at St. Mary's School for the Deaf. Long was a co-captain of the varsity soccer, basketball, and Track and field teams. Long was a center for the St. Mary's basketball team. He remained on the team from 1992 to 1995. Long gained a reputation for being one of the best defensive players in basketball, establishing himself as a rugged rebounder. Long played in the Eastern Schools for the Deaf Athletic Association's annual Soccer Tournament in Scranton, Pennsylvania, St. Mary's Boys varsity soccer teams won Soccer Championship in 1994. Long's individual accolade and accomplishments include four Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards, three Varsity Soccer Awards, and the 1995 Independent Athletic Conference (IAC) All-Star Award. Long attended Emerson Vocational High School from St. Mary's in Buffalo, New York, where he studies Culinary Art. Long was former Erie Community College culinary student, who finished his education at the Culinary Training Institute, cook at the New Era Field during Buffalo Bills' season. Long is a member of the American Culinary Federation.

Professional wrestling career[]

Training and early years (2003-2013)[]

Long's first venture into wrestling was a stint in a backyard wrestling with his brother and friends. Long started in wrestling as a ringside photographer in 2003, he decided to train. Long started his professional wrestling training in January 2010 with Empire State Wrestling in North Tonawanda, New York under Brandon Thurston and Pepper Parks. During this time, Long was billed as The Silent Warrior. He then went on to Empire State Wrestling's training seminar in 2011 in Lockport, New York where he trained under Robbie E to whom he credits with most of his training. He returned to training in 2013 at the Pride Martial Arts Academy in Williamsville, New York under Blackjack Phoenix.

Independent circuit (2010-present)[]

Silent Warrior made his professional debut in November 2010. Silent Warrior began as a babyface wrestler in 2010. His career as a masked wrestler, The Silent Warrior, began in 2011 in Ontario, California. He used powerbomb on his way to MATA Wrestling Championship on November 12, 2011 in a win over Kawambura Yosiya and Sawaterio. Silent Warrior went on to defend the Touroumon Japan Pro Wrestling title for 12 months.

Silent Warrior made his International wrestling debut in 2011 in Tokyo, Japan. Silent Warrior performed for the 5TH Annual Touroumon Japan Pro Wrestling in Tokyo, in his Japanese debut on November 26, 2011. He defeated Sawaterio at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. Also two Japanese professional wrestlers appeared at the event include Atsushi Onita and Jun Kasai.

Silent Warrior has participated mainly for the battle royal, Where his most notable battle royal match in Dynasty Wrestling Organization, Empire State Wrestling, Championship Wrestling International, Vendetta Pro Wrestling at the Cauliflower Alley Club Wrestling Reunion in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Empire Wrestling Federation at the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, California.

On the November 10, 2012, MATA Expo in Ontario, California where his most notable match was with Sean Midnight. Getting involved in great rival against the United Kingdom wrestler Sean Midnight and appearance was competing in 20 Man Battle Royal. He won his final title in front of a sold out 6,500 crowd at the Ontario Convention Center. Silent Warrior returned to Japan celebrate the 6TH Annual Touroumon Japan Pro Wrestling. He wrestled with Sawaterio, Muwa, Gyu-Shin Liger and other Japanese wrestlers in an eight-man match. Silent Warrior lost his title to Sawaterio on November 17, 2012.

Vendetta Pro Wrestling in conjunction with Cauliflower Alley Club presents Casino Royale 2013 at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Silent Warrior returns to Casino Royale Rumble one-year after his impressive run in the Casino Royal Rumble. His opponent is no slouch—Former World Wrestling Federation The Killer Bees, Brian Blair and Sinn Bodhi. Stars appeared at the event include Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Diamond Dallas Page, Ivan Koloff, Sean Casey, David Heath, Bill Alfonso, Molly Holly, and 2013 WWE Hall of Fame Mick Foley pay tribute to his late "Uncle Paul", William Alvin Moody (a.k.a. Paul Bearer) on April 15, 2013.

On the November 9, 2013, Empire Wrestling Federation at Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, California. Four Way Elimination match Sean Midnight defeated Cruz Silencio, Silent Warrior, and Fiji Wildman. Stars appeared at the event include Awesome Kong and Rock "Mr. Wonderful" Riddle.

Silent Warrior went to Japan and wrestled in Touroumon Japan Pro Wrestling, where he engaged in feud with Muwa at the Tobu Friend Hall in Tokyo, Japan, Silent Warrior won the match.

Silent Warrior took part in two matches; losing to Sean Midnight in a battle royal, and winning a single match. Silent Warrior traps a Filipino grappler in a "figure-four-leg-lock" during a tour of the MATA Expo at the One Esplanade Building in Pasay, Philippines, as Philippine edition broke a new record for the number of attendees, sold out with more than 4,000 peoples who come in to watch wrestling show on February 8, 2014.

On the May 17, 2014, Empire State Wrestling at Kenan Center Arena in Lockport, New York. Silent Warrior participated in the 23 man Open Invitational Battle Royal that took place at ESW BrawlFest. The battle royal also featured star Colin Delaney. Although Gregory Iron was also in the battle royal, Silent Warrior set his focus on eliminating Yuri Koloff, who was won the Battle Royal in 2012. Yuri Koloff successfully eliminated Silent Warrior during the match, Gregory Iron went on to win the Open Invitational Battle Royal.

On June 2, 2014, Silent Warrior returned to Vendetta Pro Wrestling, taking part in the Battle Royal at the 2014 Casino Royale in Las Vegas, from which they were eliminated by WWE, NWA, among others. Bobby Sharp won the Battle Royal which included Sinn Bodhi, Kahagas, Rock “Mr. Wonderful” Riddle. Stars appeared include National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Champion Satoshi Kojima from New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Matt Hardy, Satoshi Kojima, Santana Garrett, Cheerleader Melissa, Short Sleeve Sampson, Reno Scum, Joey Ryan, Rob Conway, Reby Sky, Christopher Daniels, and Frankie Kazarian.

On November 12, 2016, he made an appearances for tenth Annual Touroumon Japan Pro Wrestling at the Shin-Kiba 1st Ring in Tokyo, Japan. Silent Warrior took part in two matches, losing to Sean Midnight and Howie Penn in Three-way elimination match and losing a Tag Team in a "No Rope, Barbed Wire Death match". He finally unmasked but ended helping Magunamu Takasago and Toi Kokusei against the Matsumoto Tomonobu and Shocker. Japanese professional appeared at the event include Jun Kasai.

Personal life[]

Long's grandfather, Raymond Cook, was his inspiration. Raymond, who died in 2004, was an avid fan of the sport and took his grandson to see the World Wrestling Federation at Buffalo Memorial Auditorium. He taught Long what he viewed as some of the most important things in life – to overcome what others think, to buckle down and focus on schoolwork and to love wrestling. He is an avid fisherman.

Long has become a benefactor to the deaf wrestling community, creating the Deaf Wrestling Alliance. He joined Cauliflower Alley Club Lifetime Member, which holds annual reunions in Las Vegas.

Long has been married since 2017.

Long is a fan of boxing and mixed martial arts. He has practiced Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Judo.
