The Swimmers is an upcoming American drama film directed by Sally El Hosaini from a screenplay that she co-wrote with Jack Thorne. The film stars Manal Issa, Nathalie Issa, Ahmed Malek, Matthias Schweighöfer, Ali Suliman, Kinda Alloush, James Krishna Floyd and Elmi Rashid Elmi. It will release on Netflix globally in 2022.

In April 2021, was announced that Manal Issa and Nathalie Issa have been cast to play real-life sisters Yusra and Sarah Mardini in The Swimmers for Working Title Films and Netflix.[1]

Principal photography was suspended five days before commencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Production began in April 2021 and will shoot in the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Turkey.[2]
