The Tight Rope is a weekly podcast hosted by Cornel West and Tricia Rose.[1][2][3] The episodes are generally one hour long,[4] frequently feature guests,[5] and are released every Thursday.[6] Since June 2021, the podcast has been exclusively available on Patreon, with highlights uploaded on YouTube. The podcast covers issues of race,[7][8] social affairs[9] and culture.[10][11][12] The show is produced by Ceyanna Dent and Dustin Hodge for SpkerBox Media.[13] Several of the episodes were recorded in front of a live audience.[14][15][16][17]

History[]

The first episode featured Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.[18][19][20] Subsequent episodes have featured other political figures, thought leaders, actors,[21][22] directors,[23] and musicians. Some notable guests have included: Michael Moore,[24] Jane Fonda,[25] Roxane Gay,[26] Mayim Bialik,[27] Nikole Hannah-Jones,[28] and Killer Mike.[29]

Format[]

Episodes are generally one hour long.[30] The first 75 episodes are available for free via podcasting services and YouTube.[31] The newest episodes are available to premium subscribers on Patreon, although each week a 15-minute teaser is posted for free. The series has a 4.9 rating on Apple Podcasts.[32]

Two episodes have also focused on Cornel West's dispute with Harvard.[33][34][35]
